TUNIS, OCTOBER 15 - A technological platform for Sicilian and Tunisian operators, studies on the economic, productive and legislative contexts of the areas concerned and training courses for agriculture operators in Tunisia and Italy on the quality of the food and beverage industry are some of the results achieved by 'Agromed Quality' recently illustrated at a conference in Tunis wrapping up the Enpi project.

The Mediterranean quality observatory was also set up to publicize and progressively extend the results obtained by the Agromed Quality project to other Mediterranean countries.
Business-to-business meetings for 10 companies in Caltanissetta (Sicily) and as many firms in Tunisia were also organized on the sidelines of the event.

The Agromed Quality project, with at the helm the province of Caltanissetta and as partners social cooperative Ares and local farmers' union Confacgricoltura, the Maghreb farmers' union and Utap (the Tunisian union for agriculture and fisheries) is part of European neighbourhood policies with the objective of fostering integration among agricultural and food industry sectors in Sicily and Tunisia to improve their presence on international markets, in particular sharing the know-how and technologies of Tunisian and Sicilian firms and institutions.

The final conference will be held in Caltanissetta in November, when the project's results will be presented so it can provide a successful model for future cooperation initiatives.
